The polyester PBT fiber with good elasticity and easy dyeing, also known as polybutylene terephthalate fiber, is the pride of engineering plastics. In 1979, the company first launched PBT fiber products. With the development of differentiated fibers, the value of PBT as a fiber has gradually been widely recognized. .
PBT is a linear polymer obtained by melt spinning of high-purity terephthalic acid (TPA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and 1,4-butanediol, which is a type of polyester fiber.
In production, dimethyl terephthalate and 1,4-butanediol are often used for transesterification, and under high temperature and vacuum, organic titanium or tin compounds and tetrabutyl titanate are used as catalysts for polycondensation, and then the PBT fiber is prepared by melt spinning. The spinning temperature is 240-280~(2), and it is recommended to use medium or high-speed spinning, with a hot plate of about 80~C or 120~ (2) Hot plate stretching. The strength of this fiber is 3O.91~35.32cN/tex, elongation is 30%~6O%, melting point is 223~C. Its crystallization rate is 10 times faster than polyethylene terephthalate, and it has excellent elongation elasticity recovery rate and soft and easy dyeing characteristics. It can also be composite spun with polyethylene terephthalate and polypropylene or blended with polyester, polyamide, and polypropylene. The polymerization, spinning, and processing deformation of PBT fibers The production process route is basically the same as ordinary polyester, and with slight modifications, PBT fibers can be produced using polyester production equipment.
Fibers made from PBT have some properties common to polyester fibers, but due to the longer flexible portion on the basic links of PBT macromolecules, the melting point and glass transition temperature of PBT fibers are lower than ordinary polyester fibers, resulting in an increase in the flexibility and elasticity of the fiber macromolecule chains.
In summary, PBT fibers have the following characteristics:
It has good durability, dimensional stability, and good elasticity, and the elasticity is not affected by humidity. PBT fibers and their products have a soft feel, good moisture absorption, wear resistance, and fiber curling properties. They have excellent tensile and compressive elasticity, and their elastic recovery rate is better than that of polyester. PBT fibers have special elasticity under both dry and wet conditions, and their elasticity is not affected by temperature changes in the surrounding environment, making them much cheaper than spandex fibers. It has good dyeing performance and can be used for atmospheric boiling dyeing with ordinary disperse dyes without the need for a carrier. The dyed fibers have bright colors, excellent color fastness and chlorine resistance. It has excellent chemical resistance, light resistance, and heat resistance.
PBT and PET composite fibers have fine and dense three-dimensional curls, superior resilience, soft hand feel, and excellent dyeing performance, making them ideal raw materials for simulating wool and down, making them comfortable to wear.
Due to the aforementioned characteristics, PBT fibers have received widespread attention in the textile industry in recent years and have been widely used in various fields. Especially suitable for making high elastic textiles such as swimsuits, panties, training suits, gymnastics suits, bodybuilding suits, tennis suits, dance tights, stretch denim suits, ski pants, stockings, and medical bandages.
The filament yarn of PBT fibers can be used after deformation processing, while staple fibers can be blended with other fibers and can also be used for making elastic labor cloth from core-spun yarn. It can also be used for weaving woolen like fabrics. The tufted carpet produced with PBT fiber has a tactile feel similar to wool carpet. The bristle silk can be used as toothbrush silk, etc., and has good anti fuzzing performance.
If PBT fibers are used to make porous insulation flocs, they have the characteristics of wash ability, softness, breathability, lightness, and comfort, and are suitable for winter clothing and bedding filling materials.
